Trainings We Offer
Focused Clinical Solutions offers a range of trainings for mental-health professionals. As a CAMFT-Approved Certified Supervisor and a CAMFT-Approved Continuing Education Provider, Colette R. Katuala LCSW and her team can provide continuing education on the topics listed below and others. Each training is 2 hours in length, and can be facilitated en_español if desired. Colette Katuala LCSW is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT CE Provider #10013640) to sponsor continuing education for appropriate mental health professionals. Cost, refund policy, grievance procedure, and other conditions determined by the sponsoring organization. Courses can be structured to meet the qualifications for hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the BBS. Focused Clinical Solutions and the sponsoring organizations maintain responsibility for these courses and their content.
Before Reasonable Suspicion
Supporting Children and Their Families Before a Mandated Report
Mandated Reporting is a federal legal requirement that seeks to protect children from abuse and neglect. In California, the mandates have had unintended consequences for children, their families, and the community. This course covers the updated California laws around reporting neglect, discusses the impact these laws have on Mandated Reporting, and provides knowledge of what it means to be a community supporter and to utilize local community pathways of supports to families.

About Body Safety
This course aims to support those who interact with, support, and/or teach preschool-aged children in having open and nonjudgmental conversations with these children about body safety. The workshop provides information on normative child sexual development, how to engage children in age-appropriate conversations, identifying signs and indicators of abuse, and what is required and recommended if you suspect child abuse.
Burnout & Empathy
Identifying Burnout in Clients and the Role of Empathy in Therapeutic_Outcomes
This course seeks to support clinicians in identifying the symptoms of burnout in their clients, the role of empathy, and how empathic communication can support the decrease of burnout symptoms in clients and increase positive therapeutic outcomes.

Encountering Child Abuse
The Initial Child Interview Training (ICIT) aims to train first responders on best protocols for gathering information in a child abuse case, thus minimizing trauma to the child and avoiding multiple interviews. The goal is to use best practice to preserve the case and avoid conflicting statements that may result from ineffective interviewing, or situational factors beyond the interviewer’s control.
